Your story stays yours.

What this site is

Check Yourself is a public awareness campaign and educational resource about anemia. It is not a diagnostic service, not a medical practice, not a substitute for professional medical advice, and not an emergency service.

Nothing on this site should be used to diagnose or treat any condition. Always talk with a qualified healthcare professional about your own health.

Information we collect

We collect only what is needed to run the campaign. Interactive tools on this site — including the symptom explorer and the 'Could this be you?' reflection — run entirely in your browser. Your answers are not stored or transmitted.

If you choose to submit a story, we collect the information you provide in that form.

Story submissions and consent

Story submissions may include health-related information, which we treat as sensitive. Submissions are private by default and are never published automatically.

Every submission enters a review workflow: submitted, under review, approved, published or archived. Nothing is published unless you have granted permission to publish, and you may request removal at any time.

You can submit anonymously. If you do, we will not publish your name or identifying details.

Please do not include information about other people without their permission, and share only what you're comfortable having read by strangers.

Terms of use

By using this site you agree that content here is informational only, that you will not rely on it for medical decisions, and that any story you submit is your own and yours to share.

We may edit submitted stories lightly for length, clarity and privacy, without changing their meaning.
