The hardest part is the first sentence.

So here it is, already written. Copy it, send it, or read it out in the room.

  • For athletes

"I've noticed my energy and performance have changed. I want to talk to someone about it."

  • For parents

"My child has been unusually tired lately and I'd like to discuss whether we should have them evaluated."

  • For coaches

"I've noticed a change in this athlete's energy or performance. I'd like to make sure they're okay."

  • For your doctor

"Here are the symptoms I've been experiencing and when they started."

Before your appointment

Bring this with you.

A healthcare professional can work faster with specifics than with 'I've been tired.'

Your symptoms

What you've felt, and how it differs from your normal.

When it started

Weeks? Months? Sudden or gradual?

Your diet

Rough picture of what you eat in a normal week.

Training load

Volume, intensity, and any recent changes.

Menstrual history

Where relevant — including how heavy and how long.

Anything else

Medications, supplements, other conditions, family history.

If symptoms are severe — chest pain, severe difficulty breathing, fainting, or sudden severe weakness — seek urgent medical care or call your local emergency number now.
